This book is different to the rest of the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series in that it is about how they made a movie out of the book.
There are still the cartoons and notebook style font of the other books but this is interspersed with stills from the film, and this is less a tale of Greg’s misfortunes but more the challenge of fleshing out a cartoon for a live action movie. The book gives an idea of how much effort film-makers put into their craft. The set designers for example aren’t just creating a realistic backdrop for the moviegoers but also for the actors to enable them to better get into their characters.
I haven’t seen the film (or films as they also made a sequel) but I would rate the book at 4 out of 5, an interesting and humorous read.
